COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Clinical Trial
COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus, is a contagious respiratory illness primarily spread through saliva or nasal discharge when an infected person coughs or sneezes (World Health Organization). Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure and may include:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Most people infected with the Coronavirus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without special treatment (WHO). Older adults and people with certain underlying medical conditions (such as heart or lung disease) seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications once infected (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
